About Me

My name is Dallas Wheatley (they/them and he/him), and I'm so excited to be a candidate for the Winooski City Council. I currently work as a database administrator for IBM. Before that, I worked for the Maine Department of Environmental Protection after completing my Master of Science degree in Climate Studies at the University of Maine. Having been raised in rural Virginia, I've been an environmental activist for most of my life. I'm also a transgender non-binary person and a LGBTQ+ Activist.

Last summer I co-directed the Dark Dice Podcast LGBTQ+ charity event, which raised over $10,000 for The Trevor Project. My activism most recently takes its form in the shape of my audio fiction series, Fireside Folktales. As a voice actor and a voice director, I work to uplift trans, non-binary, and other marginalized voices who have been underrepresented in media. I hope to use this experience to provide a voice for the marginalized people in my own community as well.

I rent a house a short walk away from Chick's Market with my roommate, my partner Josh, and my pet rabbit Cindy. As a renter, I'm all too aware of the importance of providing affordable, accessible housing options to larger families and family units. Charging $1600 for a 1-bedroom apartment is too much money, and allowing predatory rental companies to continue doing so will only push diversity and future homeowners out of our wonderful city.

I look forward to getting to know more of my neighbors and fellow residents! Please don't hesitate to contact me and start a conversation.
